Bitter Tongue and Clean Kind Heart

Day is sunny, weather is quite hot and it is just started. Thirty minutes of walk from his home to ferry, after struggling to board ferry then again, a thirty minutes’ walk from ferry to his office. At sharp 08:30 am Davis has just entered office. He settled in his desk, arranged files he was going to work on today and asked the office boy to bring him a black coffee. He has just taken a sip so he can get a bit energy and his boss arrives. With no formal morning greetings, he the boss (David) goes:

David: Don’t you take breakfast at home? You have not done any work yet and started wasting time. After couple of hours, you will just go for lunch again.

Davis: . . . Morning Boss. . . (keeps silence, head down and just kept listening as this was not new and day has just started and more was to come.)

David: Bring cash book to my cabin.

Davis: (Leaves the coffee there ons his table to get cold and enters to boss’s cabin in no time) Yes sir.

David: See you have not noted this expense. Are you still sleeping? What you know only to grab your salary, what you can think about increment. But work? No, you don’t want to. Watch your scrambled shirt and collar that is worn out. Don’t you get enough salary you can afford a nice shirt and iron it? (Davis is just standing there with head down) What people will think you are not being paid off? (After giving first daily dose of insult) Go back to work.

Here we are not talking about Davis’s salary or how he is hardly living hand to mouth. If his salary barely can fulfill his kitchen needs and house rent and he already has warning from school about his children’s dues. His boss is so kind hearted that once he is in good mood Davis will ask him for loan which he will immediately lend him to clear school dues, to repair something in house and surely, he will give him few bucks to get some nice used shirts.

After sometime David will just come to Davis, will talk so nicely and will apologize for previous experience mentioning that I may get angry sometimes for no reasons but I am still having clean and kind heart. (But damage has been done)

This story and more likely same stories are happening all around us every day. People like David who has a bitter tongue but has a soft kind heart as they claim. They rip souls of others to pieces with their words then they claim their heart is clean, they did not mean to torture their souls. I do not understand, if your tongue so bitter which spilt highly acidic words, those words can split others’ soul in thousand pieces, what a person will do with your good and kind heart? I do not believe if a body has kind heart and it can have bitter tongue which can shred apart someone more that a sharp knife can.

A person got a wound by sword from an enemy may heal sooner but the wounds you get from words of insult which are also invisible are hard to get a cure. For now, I will say, “If you have a bitter tongue and unaligned words, your soft, clean and kind heart is useless”.
